Public Health Grants Due in December

Two grants with December deadlines address public health issues. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Public Health Practice grant will provide funding directly to local public health departments to implement quality improvement methods. Quality improvement practices allow health departments to improve their performance and their ability to protect, promote and preserve health in the communities they serve. Eligible health department must have prior experience in conducting quality improvement processes and be prepared to initiate a new QI project immediately after the grant period begins and completed within one year or have a QI initiative currently in progress that will continue through the first year of the grant period. The Foundation plans on awarding grants of $120,000 to $140,000. Preliminary proposals are due December 16, 2008.

The Allen Foundation’s Human Nutrition Grants program will fund: programs for the nutrition education and training of mothers during pregnancy and after the birth of their children; training of persons to work as educators and demonstrators of good nutritional practices; dissemination of information regarding healthful nutritional practices and habits. Online proposals must be submitted by December 31, 2008.
