Conference Opportunities in Wisconsin

Over the next few months communities across Wisconsin will host several conferences on a variety of health issues.  Some offer discounts for early registration or those who are already members of the sponsoring organization.  Some even have scholarships!  I encourage you to consider attending these or other conferences—they really are a good source of information on new and innovative programs and a great opportunity to meet people in your field.  Many conferences (including some below) also qualify for CEUs (continuing education units).

  • ABC For Health hosts the annual HealthWatch Wisconsin Conference in Madison February 9 & 10.   The conference will be “two days of learning as experts from across Wisconsin share resources, tips and strategies for working with Wisconsin’s health care consumers.”  Session topics will include the future of BadgerCare Plus and a panel discussion with key State legislators.
  • Madison will also be the site of the Children’s Service Society of Wisconsin’s Together for Children Conference on March 30 & 31.  The goal is “to improve prevention, treatment, investigation and prosecution of child abuse and neglect by providing knowledge and skills to address emerging issues, research questions and public policy changes in child welfare and child protection.”
  • EMTs will have an opportunity to improve and acquire skills, techniques and knowledge common to both pre-hospital and hospital based emergency caregivers at the 35th annual Wisconsin Paramedic Seminar April 1 – 3 in Appleton.
  • The National Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Conference, hosted by the University of Wisconsin, will be May 1 & 2 in Madison.  The conference will address the impact of prenatal alcohol and other drug exposure across the lifespan, and include nationally recognized speakers, skills-building sessions, program sharing, poster session, and exhibits.  A pre-conference, day long training session will be held April 30.
