More EMS Grant and Resource Info
Continuing my recognition of EMS Week, here’s information on some additional grants. See some of my previous posts for other EMS-related grants.

The Walgreen Community Grant Program funds proposals in several health categories, including Civic and Community Outreach and Emergency and Disaster Relief. They accept proposals on an ongoing basis. You must be a non-profit, 501c3 organization to apply—EMS could partner with a local non-profit for this program. No deadline.

State Farm Insurance has several grant programs, including Safe Neighbors. They’ll consider proposals that improve driver, vehicle, and road safety and that support disaster preparedness programs. One of the selection criteria is whether programs will provide volunteer opportunities for State Farm employees, so it would be a good idea to partner with your local State Farm office. There appears to be no deadline.
This sounds like a great program! The Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has a program that helps full time firefighters, EMTs and others buy homes in revitalization areas. The Good Neighbor Next Door program offers eligible buyers discounts of 50% off the list price of properties they’ve assumed ownership of. According to the website, “the number of properties available is limited and the list of available properties changes weekly”, but I found a number of them in rural WI communities (Bloomer, Oconto, Prescott, etc.).
