Grants, Grants, Grants
I’m back from vacation, finally cleared off my desk and realized I hadn’t posted in a couple weeks. I want to get something up quickly, so, here are a lot of grant opportunities!
Â
-
St. Mary’s Health Care System in Athens, GA is donating eight used ambulances to communities that can demonstrate need. Their preference is communities in Georgia, but if you can make a convincing case for why your community is deserving, I encourage you to go for it. The deadline is September 1.
-
The Health Resources & Services Administration will award 20 Rural Health Network Development Planning grants of up to $85,000. This is a great opportunity for you to develop a health care network. Applicants must be a “rural, non-profit or public entity that represents a consortium/network of three or more health related entities that need assistance to plan, organize and develop a health care network.â€Â Get your proposals in by September 14. I know I’m repeating myself, but because this is a federal grant, there is a lot of paperwork involved, so if you’re interested, get a move on.
-
Most grant opportunities I come across tend to be funded by the same organizations, but this is one I’ve never heard of before. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will award up to $15,000,000 in Motor Carrier Safety Administration High Priority grants.  They are “focused on reducing crashes, injuries, and fatalities involving large trucks and buses.â€Â The funds are intended for state data gathering, traffic enforcement, etc., but they do have money for public information and education. And these information/education grants will not require a match. Get your applications in by September 15 and guess what—it’s a federal agency and you know what that means!
-
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has funds for health care employment and training. The job training funds are available in a variety of categories, including nursing, health information technology, long term care and allied professions. You must partner with public workforce agencies (like DWD) and a training agency, such as your local technical college. Again, it’s a federal program. Due October 5.
-
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is looking for programs that “explore innovations that allow individuals, families, communities and society to move past narrow perceptions of mental health and expand our understanding and collective involvement in finding solutions.â€Â Their  Rethinking Mental Health: Improving Community Wellbeing program will award grants up to $5,000 to innovative, community-wide mental health programs. Proposals are due October 14.
Â
Finally, I will host a seminar September 29 in Stevens Point, How to Succeed in Securing Grants, with Boris Frank as presenter. The seminar is free and lunch is provided. There are only a few spaces left, so hurry and register if you’re interested.Â
