A Few Upcoming Conferences and Grant Proposal Deadlines

  • The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management is one of the sponsors of the 2010 MEGA Health Conference January 20-22 in Wisconsin Dells.  The theme is Health Care Excellence Through Collaboration and will include sessions on compliance risk assessments and HIPAA updates.
  • WIPFLi hosts the annual Critical Access Hospital Workshop and Rural Health Clinic Forum February 2-4 in Bloomington, MN.  Topics will include recovery audits, affordable technology and Medicare cost reporting.

Here are a few grants with deadlines in the next month.

  • The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry will award grants for programs that will provide dental care to underserved children.  The Healthy Smiles, Healthy Children Access to Care initiative will award up to $20,000 to cover clinic supplies, education materials, and other costs with clear, direct impact on child oral care.  Apply by December 31.
  • The Samuel Harris Fund for Children’s Dental Health Dentistry Grant Program will award up to $5,000 for programs that provide oral health instruction for mothers and caregivers to help reduce the incidence of early childhood caries.  Proposals are due January 8.
  • The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will award grants between $50,000 and $300,000 through the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act to help enroll American Indian children who qualify for, but are not yet enrolled in, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).  CMS is interested in proposals that include outreach plans that address barriers to enrollment, including cultural barriers.  This is a federal grant, which means you’ll have to do some extra work.  But the grant amounts are significant!  Get your proposals in by January 15.
