November Update
Above are photos from the job fairs at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and Marquette School of Dentistry. It was great fun to meet students at both schools and tell them about job openings in Wisconsin – in public health dentistry. Currently site visits and interviews are happening weekly. It is a good idea to make your practice location decision early in your final year, so the spring semester can be free of this worry and devoted to credentialing/licensing and housing plans!
The Dentist Placement Program just completed our 3rd fiscal year with a record 16 placements – 15 are dentists practicing at community health center clinics, which see all people regardless of income. The Wisconsin communities where we placed dentists were Park Falls, Superior, Racine, Owen, Chippewa Falls, Ladysmith, Cashton, Wautoma, and Kenosha. One of the dentists joined a private practice in Richland County, which has lost several dentists to retirement.
Fall is the busy season for all recruiting programs – this fall I’m attending 3 job fairs at schools of dentistry and I’m corresponding with many dentists and future dentists in the midst of their job searches. We hope many complete their site visits before the snow flies! Although today, Nov. 3, with 70 degrees and sunshine in Wisconsin – snow seems very far off!
