Getting started in social media

  • Social media is all the rage, and at WI-ORH we are utilizing every tool to reach out to our rural health constituents.  Here are a few tips to get started.

  • Facebook is for everyone. To open an account, visit www.facebook.com. Enter your name, create a password, and don't forget to include your birthday so your friends can send you greetings. For tips on setting up your profile, try Facebook's official tips or this video guide.
  • Once you've signed up, visit our fan page and show your support for WI-ORH.

  • Twitter is the fastest-growing social networking site, and you're just a few steps away from experiencing the phenomenon. Visit www.twitter.com to get started. Once you've created your profile, look for interesting people to follow by searching for key words and visiting the profiles of tweets you like.

  • Flickr lets you share your photos so your friends and colleagues can see them.
  • Get started by creating a free account at www.flickr.com. If you already have a Yahoo account, you can sign in with your password; if not, you can start an account for free.  Details on setting up an account.
  • Once you're set up, start uploading photos.
