    To understand the perspective of parents in the districts where they are working with school staff, Covering Kids and Families conducted a survey of 546 parents in CESAs 1 and 8.     The 26-month, full-time, year-round program is designed to prepare students to become physician assistants with an emphasis on primary care and preventative medicine. Concordia is the fifth university in the state to have a PA program and will accept 30 students annually with applications for the first class being accepted June 1 through Dec. 1.     Live54218 began as a challenge from the Green Bay Press-Gazette to its readers across Brown County, WI - how could we think boldly about changing our community?     A faked heart attack was part of a demonstration, which illustrated the importance and professionalism of our local Emergency Medical Services (EMS).  The lack of EMT numbers isn’t the only problem faced by Emergency Medical Services. Age is another. Marcy Pratt, project manager for Northwest Wisconsin CEP, who coordinated the event, said the emphasis was on recruitment, but also on creating awareness. The program was made possible by a grant from the Wisconsin Office of Rural Health and a consortium of sponsors including CEP, Memorial Medical Center, Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College and the Bayfield-Ashland County EMS Council, which represents 12 ambulance services.  (Source: Ashland Daily Press)  [Read article]

    Nurses are the health care providers that spend the most time with patients and family. They help patients cope with illness, provide pain control, decrease isolation and anxiety and help educate about illness. And, that is only a handful of services they provide. To honor those services, Y.E.S. awards were handed out today. Y.E.S. stands for Your Excellent Service.
