About

It’s a place to discuss the explosion of technology in realms of healthcare, public health, business and of course lifestyle – as it relates to rural areas.  Part soapbox, part town hall meeting, and a dash of gee whiz, I hope you’ll register and join the discussion in the Comments.  There are a lot of rural techies out there, and I’m eager to hear what you have to say about this as well…

Your host is John Eich, Director of the Wisconsin Office of Rural Health; he chaired the Health IT Committee of the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) and has been a frequent cheerleader (read: crackpot in the corner) for the adoption of new technology (TeleHealth, EMRs and PHRs, social media, GIS, data tracking and visualization, etc) in both healthcare delivery and healthcare policy.

Having grown up in rural Wisconsin and lived in the remote foothills of the Gila Mountains in New Mexico, he has been blending “rural + technology” for a lifetime.
